Like many food bloggers, I am pretty much obsessed with Joy the Baker. I listen to her podcasts, subscribe to her blog and I am planning to go to her book signing when she is in Brooklyn at the end of the month. I love her writing voice and her recipes are awesome. Something else that is awesome is her Enjoy! gift program. You sign up, part with $25 and get a Joy selected gift every three months. Unfortunately, I didn’t think I should sign up for myself (because sometimes I have a hard time treating myself, I’m not a martyr but are you with me?) but thought maybe I could convince Sparky to subscribe for me. However, with Joy’s popularity, every time the window opened for new subscribers, he did not act quickly enough. Finally, though, I got on the list!
My gift came last week and it was awesome! I was too excited to take a picture but it was from King Arthur Flours and included Double-Dutch Dark Cocoa, Espresso Powder, Guittard Bittersweet Chocolate Sprinkles, a bowl scraper, cupcake cups, and a recipe for Deep Dark Mocha Cupcakes from Joy! The cupcakes were chocolate with a bit of espresso powder to enhance the chocolate-ness topped with a buttercream icing with more espresso powder and sprinkles! These sprinkles are awesome, not your usual chalky “jimmies” from your childhood ice cream cone. The icing was hard to spread so I think I could have used some milk to thin it out but we were too eager to get them in our mouths to wait any longer!
I don’t want to violate any internet etiquette rules so I will not post the recipe but this version by the Brown Eyed Baker appear to be similar: Mocha Cupcakes with Espresso Buttercream Frosting.
Happy Monday! I hope it’s sweet!
Love,
